I have it soooon.
-
Soooo how'd you go?
-
Lol no one said anything about it on here but I have it tomorrow.
-
Yes, that only means one thing: it was shit hard. Good luck for tomorrow

Hmm... Most people said it was easy.

It's alright guys...you will get through it very quickly (average is about 10-15mins) so just spend the time afterwards to think about your answers because there may be 1-2 trick questions and perhaps 3 difficult ones.
General consensus is that if you've done Bio 3/4, it'll be a breeze. It's not that much more difficult if you haven't, but I personally had to think intensely for a few questions.
(yes I do biomed, but we do the same bio as science students minus the heavy plant stuff...that said there were plant cell questions)

All my mates said it was hard, lol, depends on the kind of people you hang around with. I clearly don't hang around the right group

What Pixon said was an extremely accurate depiction of Biology - (for me though it still wasn't 'a breeze' though lol so there must be something weird going on there).
There were definitely a few which required deep analytical thought.

Ok thanks guys

When do we get our marks?

When do we get our marks?
Dont know, keep your eye on the lms/emails
-
We were told that we'll get results during the easter break or at the latest, end of the first week back. Keep your eyes out on the lms grades (though an announcement and consequent email will probably let us know).
In the meantime, you're welcome to go over each question with your tutor to see how you've gone and get explanations for questions.

Results are out for biomed kids.

As the test was worth 10%, and 24/25 is 96%, does that mean I get 10% or 9.6% or what's the deal?
I somewhat agree/somewhat disagree with Pixon. I've struggled in Bio thus far, it can be hard to logically reason when you don't have any background knowledge at all in biology. In Physics, in vce at least, I could usually use some general logic based on other physics concepts to see if something is plausible, can't really do that in biology at the moment and it's a big disadvantage IMO. However, having said that, there are so many resources to help you and the content is not overly challenging.

It will be rounded to 10% =)
-
Results are out for Science students as well, how'd you guys go?
-
are these standardised against the different test versions?
Edit: so if you got 78% it gets rounded upto 80% ??
:D

I'm pretty sure there is no rounding up.. So he will get te 9.6 %.
-
How do we find out what we got wrong?

Most likely the rounding up or down would be down with the final semester mark
-
How do we find out what we got wrong?
I got 22/23 and I know exactly which question I got wrong, the first question.
-
At the end when they get the total sum of all the percentages then they might round it up or down, but as for now, 9.6% is just 9.6%, I hope what I'm saying is making sense :P

Didn't do VCE Bio, finding uni Bio incredibly hard.
It's hard to know what to know.
I just get overwhelmed with the terminology - I hate the fact that the lecturer introduces the centriole, centrosome, centromere, chromosome, and kinetochore all within the space of 2min of each other.
I generally just give up in the bio lecture and note down terminology to try and go and understand how it all works later... it takes me like 2-3 hours of bio study per lecture outside of lectures just to keep up.
And if that was too tacit for you, take this as an obvious admission that I'm positive I failed the test :s
-
^^^Kinda agree. Would be hard as fuu if I didn't do VCE Bio since they assume you already know all the organelles etc.
-
Do you take advantage of the tutorials for non-VCE bio students? I heard they were pretty helpful in first year (I never went even though I didn't do VCE bio)

dont worry i forget the terminology too, everyone has to revise it, although having done vce bio i'm aware of the names just can't remember what they do half the time.
-
oh and go to topic tutorials!

well that's weird, don't see how botany should be relevant to biomed

Haha I guess you missed the part where he said "minus the heavy plant stuff."

Yeah I see your point but there were still plant related questions though

We still needed to differentiate between plant and animal cells so we had to know the stuff in a plant cell. A whole lot less than youg uys I'm sure but yeah.. just that bit of botany in there

I got 22/23 for bio pretty happy but i'm not sure what i got wrong
how did you guys go?

15/23... FML
I studied so hard for it as well...
I really hate biology.. D:

what % of the total marks was this worth?

It's so easy to lose marks in biology in general.
-
FML over the fact that I had 3 midsems in one week when the bio test was on and all the people I knew only had the bio midsem to study for.

Sorry to hear that, but look at it this way: you only worried for 1 week instead of potentially 3!
-
That's true. I'm just glad I have a decent exam timetable to make up for lost marks :)
-
I'm so glad to retain a persistant grin on my face, still enjoying 1st year uni.

Luckily it coincides with your name lol.

I hate the current bio lecturer. Has anyone noticed how the lectures are empty?

I've noticed a decline in the number of people who attend my lectures but I've noticed that a few people including myself that keenly attend lectures so mine a still pretty full but not to same extent as the start of the year

At least he's gone. All he did as read the lecture slides, no expansion whats so ever. Almost as if he wasn't interested/ didn't know what he was talking about.
