Title: What are the benefits of doing a double degree in an undergrad course?

but it's only 1 degree?

if you're applying for one job would it be looked favourably upon if you have two majors related to the field of work you're interested in entering instead of one or not necessarily?

no this is just a single degree with 2 majors.

e.g. BSc with majors in Environmental Science + Biochemistry.

pretty sure you can only do 1 major? i know at UoM BSc you can only do 1 major, or only 1 major is considered

wahh...why is it like that at UoM. I think you can do other majors at the other unis (e.g. monash, deakin etc) not sure though....so if you do 2 majors in one degree, can any significant good come out of it?
you'd have more relevant core subjects in your degree but would it be advantageous when you show employers? would doing a double major give you an edge from other candidates and separate you from other job seekers for example?

Post by: paulsterio on April 03, 2012, 11:31:08 pm: depends what industry really, and what the other major is, for example, if you were applying to become a chemical analyst, i doubt they would seriously take the fact that you also have a major in psychology into account :P

Employers will care either: 1) that you have a degree (and possibly your marks) or 2) if they care about what you did, then the subjects matter, not what the university says your "major" is.
