Haven't enrolled in physics fundamentals as I couldn't fit it in, how disadvantaged am I for next year if I do the gamsat then?
-
the physics is not that bad on the gamsat, its only year 12 stuff

Does anyone know if there are any places you can go in place of physics fundamentals??

I'd personally pick up a year 12 textbook, look up what kind of topics are on the GAMSAT (google) and then study those topics. There are some topics that are on the GAMSAT, that aren't covered in year 12, but the majority are. This year was a lot more physics heavy than usual, but the ones before weren't as bad. My girlfriend didn't even look at any physics questions in the UK GAMSAT last year and still managed high 70's for SIII.

Just grab the lecture notes for physics fundamentals off a friend and also the recorded lectures if they're recorded - essentially you're not missing out on anything now :P

Can you get the recorded lectures once the subject has finished its semester? That is, if i log onto my friend's lms who does physics fundamentals..
-
Not sure, but I know that at Monash I can just view any lectures, I don't even have to be enrolled in the unit :P

Yep, can't see why that wouldn't work =) Although for GAMSAT purposes you might be better off learning from something more specialised for it, if you're self-learning anyway (I hear there are some things fundamentals/physics for biomed doesn't cover but which are on the GAMSAT?)

If I wasn't doing physics fundamentals for uni, I would much rather pay for a course to teach it to me or learn it myself from one of the internet resources than try to do it all myself from recordings.
-
Yeah I think i might just learn the specific stuff when the time comes around to it, luckily i have a while to think about it
-
I just used year 12 physics textbook to learn physics component of gamsat, I also did practice questions from MCAT examkrackers so you might have a look at that.

what is the difference between the mcat and the gamsat? Can you sit the mcat or just the gamsat for postgraduate courses?
-
MCAT is for the US?
Remember hearing about it on Harold and Kumar :P
-
MCAT can be used for entry to australian medical schools but only by international students. If you are located in Australia you can only use GAMSAT(aus) and GAMSAT(UK) scores for entry. Although the gamsat is different to the MCAT some of the questions are similar so i used the mcat stuff for prep. Just be aware of what you need to know and what is relevant and you can make good use of other resources.

Well what I did was got to the GAMSAT, looked at every physics question and just filled in C, C, C, C, C... Not a good strategy, I don't recommend it! If I do the GAMSAT again next year I will definitely being looking over some physics before I go in!
