Hey guys, i lost my Melb uni student card a while back and realised now i will be needing it for exams. When i go to the exams will they accept another photo identification like Drivers License?
cheers
-
yes they do, you can just tell them your student ID number but take other ID just in case
-
okay, i read you need to take in enrolment details do you think Drivers License + student number is enough?
-
Probably. I don't think they will be really fussed about it - just make sure not to forget your license!!
-
my tutor said that if you forget your student id it's not the end of the world, but just take your drivers licence and student number with you
-
Semi-thread hijack but can we bring ipods and stick em' on the desk or something?
-
Can we bring bags in the examination room with us?
-
my tutor said if you bring stuff then you'll have to put them in a clear plastic bag or something and it'll be put under the desk not on top. If you bring bags there is a place to put the bags but apparently it gets really crowded during pick and you could be waiting for half an hour to an hour to get your bag because the line is so long. You cannot take bags into the examination room, anything taken into the examination room would need to be in a clear bag and under the desk.

Oh my god.. so many.

If your exams are at REB, then there will be two cargo containers with shelves in them, which you can place your bag in. It does take a while to get your bag though, because there is 2500+ people at the venue, and a lot do have bags, probably takes you like 15mins to get it sometimes. Bring your exam stationary in a plastic ziplock bag or a plastic pocket, as they won't let you bring in your pencil case. Valuables can be brought in, but left on the floor.
-
Too much hassle to bring a bag, i'm just going to bring my exam stuff :P so do you put your phone on the ground?
-
Haha that's what I usually do after I took my bag the first time. Yup, phone on the ground face down.
-
What if you brought some books or something with you?
-
If you have a bag, you can put them in that and into the container. If not, I think people can usually put their things (such as books and pencil cases, not valuables which go under your table) on the floor against the wall, near the entrance. Though I've never really taken notice of this, so don't take my word for it. If you have a friend there with a bag, it'd probably be safer to put it in theirs.
-
Ahh ok i just don't plan to stick around for too long to collect my stuff lol but i want to bring notes/book to revise on the train XD
-
how is the collection of bags regulated? is it just go in and grab your stuff? is it ever likely that someone might take a bag that's not theirs on purpose?

Yes, go and grab, store it in some storing place. Theoretically yes, someone could easily steal your stuff or accidentally take something etc. etc. so you bring your valuables along with you to the room and leave it where the examiners can see it.

Does no white out apply to uni exams too?

I don't think you should do it at all. Just cross it out and write it somewhere else. There's always a fuss about it from teachers
-

Yes and make sure it's switched off! Don't put it on silent - 3 hours of having it switched off will not cause a premature apocalypse. Trust me, it's worth having your phone switched off. :) Getting into trouble at a uni exam is serious academic misconduct and they do treat it seriously. Very seriously I've heard.
-
I probably sound like a loser, but do they have signs showing you where the exam room is, or i guess you just follow the crowd? How long does it usually take to find your seat, i.e. how early should I get there if reading time is 9:15?
-
I'm hoping to be there by 8:30 just so i can find the place (walking there from parliament)
-
It literally takes 5 minutes to walk there if you dont walk at a granny speed, if you do it should still only take 10 minutes tops - this is from parliment.
Get there 15 minutes before the time scheduled for the exam cos that's when the reading time starts.
I got there pretty early today and it was just standing in the cold and talking to people... Not fun haha If your exam starts at like 9:30 i'd try getting there at like 9am :)
-
So sneaky putting the time as 2:15 but it actually starting at 2!
-
@ swarley where did you walk from?
LOL i guess i was about to leave too early:)
-
From parliment :) First time i've ever been there, there's going to be a lot firsts for me exploring the city :D Anyway was scared i'd get lost in there lol then i was going up the escalators and was like WTTTTFFF this is so steeeeppp hahaha it's crazy.

Man those escalators, I hold on to the rail for dear life.

I've never understood how one can feel fear about something as trivial as a humongous escalator when you have a mother-fornicating three hour exam ahead of you?

I'm telling you it's the Melbourne Model. Makes you fear stuff with exams.
It's a fear within a fear. Modelception.
