Title: Sacs back! stuffed a question on Corporate culture?
Post by: Ajsguns on June 25, 2012, 09:52:52 pm
Anyone know what i was ment to put here?

"Identify an describe two indicators of corporate culture and explain how corporte culture could be developed in the future"

I thought the indicators were things such as staff morale level through staff surveys etc? it can be developed in the future by managers reinforcing company values and rewarding staff who perform to high expectations etc etc (obviously i did elaborate) i also went on about communication and consistancy however it seems i got 0/2 for this question it was one of only 2 questions i stuffed up on all of the sacs so im not really that angry but i thought i got this right? Or was it asking for the 4 elements values/heroes/rituals/symbols (i dont get how it could be but i dont understand what i did wrong?)

What was i ment to say?

Don't understand how i stuffed it that was my strongest chapter yet my lowest mark 27/30.

Pretty sure it was looking for indicators of corporate culture (i.e. values/heroes/rituals/symbols) I think you got the indicators of corporate culture mixed up with key performance indicators. Other indicators of corporate culture are:

Indicators of corporate culture
Communication channels – formal/informal, are employees encouraged to seek out manager’s help?
Dress code – dress requirements – formal, casual, uniform, free dress day
Willingness to achieve – are they trying their best, or relaxing?
Socialisation – do the staff talk to each other, have lunch together, celebrate birthdays?
Stories – significant events or people. eg. ‘rags to riches’ story about the founder.
Rituals – recognition, award ceremonies, weekly dinners etc…
Material symbols – luxury cars, first class travel, club membership, reserved parking areas.
Managers’ behaviour as role – manager’s behaviour forms model for desired staff behaviour and values.
Empowerment – are managers reinforcing appropriate behaviour? eg. ‘good work’.
Language – specific language eg. use of jargon and acronyms – VCE, VCAA, ENTER etc…
Training – the importance of certain activities that go with the desired organisational structure.

You are correct on the part where it wants to acknoloedge how corporate culture can change:

it can be developed in the future by managers reinforcing company values and rewarding staff who perform to high expectations etc etc

Aside from that you did really well. Gimme your notes!
