Can you skip them? Specifically physics.
-
Check the subject handbook to see if they take attendance.
-
I don't want to hijack this thread (sorry!!) but if we don't meet the tute attendance (by like 1 class) is it like an automatic fail? Or do they allow us to do extra work/assessment and make up for it?? :-\ and would we have to bring up this issue with the subject coordinator or just the tutor? Eeek i'm super worried! :-\

Not sure how it works but i'd ask your tutor first and then see what they say from there, if they direct you to the subject coordinator etc.

75% is the standard hurdle attendance rate

Not for first year physics. Physics 2 has the same policy as Physics 1: turn up if they help you. I asked my tutor today if tutorials were compulsory, and he said no. The problem solving classes are pretty shitty anyway.

I might go in and double check or something. Missed my last one cos cbf gettin' up and the tutor ain't that good, the guy just reads off the sheet which I'm fairly sure is on the lms anyway.

I skipped a few and came in to notice a roll. I freaked out and thought what the fuck, attendance is compulsory? I asked them and basically they only keep a roll of who is present to shove it in your face if you fail so that you have no excuses.
-
So final verdict for physics 2?
-
tutes not compulsory but they upturn your low attendance into your face if you fail.
-
If you turn up to all your tutes(or atleast most) and something goes wrong later on and you have to apply for special consideration they are more likely to be lenient.
-
Any one else had to switch their tutes? I had a god awful one for chemistry so I had no other choice but to switch.

Yes! Had to switch chem too. The tutor just came in and said "do this question" then told us the answer a few minutes later and moved on with very little or no explanation. At one point he did not know all the answers either :/
