Title: Use of imaging technologies and areas of the brain

Just wondering does anyone how much should we know of these two bulletpoints in the study design?

The way Grivas approaches them is somewhat confusing. Do we derive the information on imaging techniques and areas of the brain (not the neural pathways) mainly from the side boxes that are next to each type of learning?

I really suggest borrowing the Nelson Psychology textbook from a library, it explains it much clearer!

● Areas of the brain and neural pathways involved in learning
This refers to the brain areas involved in learning (such as the cerebellum, hippocampus, amygdala and frontal lobes).
It'd also be wise to have an understanding of the effects of damage to these areas of the brain.
Also, you should know about neuron formation - synaptogenesis, effects of neural development, role of neurotransmitters, etc.

As for the use of imaging technologies, I think we basically just need to know about CT, SPECT, PET, MRI and fMRI scans, and how they can be used to indirectly observe the process of learning taking place. Also how imaging technologies support research (such as plasticity) and allows us to target the specific areas of the brain that are malfunctioning.

That really helps, thanks.  :)  Regarding the CT, SPECT etc. scans, are they covered specifically in relation to learning in the Nelson book?
