Title: how often should I study for spesh?
Post by: BigAl on October 03, 2012, 09:16:55 pm
I haven't touched any maths after solving like 15-20 sets of trial exams since I've been focusing on English recently.. and done nothing for maths for a week. Today I tried solving 2 exams in a row and I have been completely devastated by them. I reckon the reason is not because I don't know how to solve questions but probably exhaustion, as I started doing mistakes I've never done before for any exam..What do you guys reckon? Should I go into solving problems or have a bit more break for maths ?

No need to panic. Just study for it like you study for any other subject. Don't over do it. Do a bit each day if you can. Balance is the key :)

I think you are at a point where you can change the way you study a little bit.
Do 1 trial exam for spesh every 2-3 days... Spend an hour or two doing the exam.
Then the next day review the exam, do the questions you got wrong... identify mistakes you make all the time and you are well on your way to a good score.

There are usually 3 reasons why you get a question wrong:
1. You don't know how to solve the question.
2. You ran out of time completing other questions.
3. You were not in the right state of mind when you began it.

Identify which of these things is the cause of your mistake and then fix it.
1. Re-read that part of the textbook and learn how to do them. Attempt other questions set up in a similar way until you feel comfortable with them.
2. Do more practice exams and textbook questions until you are capable of working a lot faster.
3. Take a break, drink a glass of fresh water and make sure that the place you are working at isn't too hot or stuffy.

No one can truly answer that but you.
