Title: Maths error help!!!

Doing a bit of unit 3 physics (electornics)

Vout = (x/(x+y))*Vin

Vout=7
y=300
Vin=12
7=(x(x+300)) * 12

how to slove this step by step.

This is what i did:
7/12=x/(x+300)
12/7=(x+30)/x

7 = 12x/(x+300)
7x + 2100 = 12x
5x = 2100
x = 2100/5
x = 420
