Title: BioMed without VCE biology
Post by: M-D on January 21, 2013, 12:05:20 am
hi, I just wanted to know if a student will be disadvantaged in Biomed if they haven't done VCE biology. Will the basics of VCE biology still be covered or are they assumed to have been learnt before?
Thanks in advance.

I haven't done biomed but i'm sure they cover VCE bio quickly in the first semester.

You won't be at a huge disadvantage if you haven't covered Biology before. They will go over the basics with you again. It might seem overwhelming when you hear other students saying that it is so easy at first but you will be at the level of everyone very quickly.

You will need to work harder and focus a lot more, since they move fast and explain a lot of stuff quickly

I thought 1st year Biology without VCE Biology as quite difficult, but I managed a 77 and a 74 with adequate study. There's no denying it'll be harder. So study harder :)

They will cover it from scratch pretty much, it's the speed with which is the main issue. I would imagine that second semester is a lot worse for those who haven't done it, first semester is more friendly towards this.
