Title: How to prepare for my Language analysis sac?
Post by: vashappenin on April 28, 2013, 06:18:40 pm
Hey, so my language analysis sac is at the end of the week and i feel like i should be doing something productive and useful over the next few days to be as prepared as possible. throughout the year, I've done 3-4 practice essays so far, but all were typed and untimed
should i be using the next few days to write at least 1-2 more under time? What are the most useful things i should be doing?
Also, how to i reduce the likelihood of my thumb joint hurting when writing? I find that it hurts when i write a lot, probably because of the way i hold my pen. And how do I prevent it from hurting/cramping up during the sac?

Thanks :D

I would definitely write some handwritten essays to SAC time or less, then read over them and correct them yourself. Then get your teacher to correct it and redraft it, fixing her feedback (you can defs do this part on the computer, it's just so you fully learn from your mistakes).

Well, hold your pen differently :P. Or get a different pen that is more suitable to your grip and doesn't cause the cramps. You could take some magnesium the morning of, I'm not sure if it will do any good. Otherwise, get really good at thumb massages.

Yeah, I'm actually about to do one now, and hopefully another one on tuesday or something (I'll spend tomorrow going over her corrections and fixing my essay accordingly)

Haha, I try, but it's so hard! Maybe because I'm left-handed?? Idk..  :\

But while I'm writing this essay I'll try holding my pen in different ways so my hand gets used to different ways. Then I can just alternate during the sac I guess

Apparently, I've heard from so many people, that it's good to take a nurofen like 1-2hrs before the sac, as it'll prevent cramps or something.. not sure if I'm willing to drug myself up for no reason though.. depends on how good my hand's feeling on the day, I guess!

The reason it hurts there is because there's a blister-type bump on this one spot on my thumb, which never goes away because I always need to write.. Just as it begins to heal, it goes all red again because I'll be using it to write. -.-

Maybe I'll just put a bandage or something soft over that one spot so that my pen doesn't rest on it too much..

Ohhhh yeah, that's a callus forming! I actually did write my SACs with two tissues padding my hand/fingers because I wrote all my notes/essays... It was like my middle finger was being cut into with a knife.
