Title: Essay structure
Post by: grannysmith on May 04, 2013, 03:57:41 pm
I've been taught to use TACTIC and TEEL, but I'm wondering if there are other structures you could use?

Do you have to state the main points in the introduction, or can you summarise them all and then expand in the body paragraphs?

Thanks

for the introduction i like to only briefly summarise my arguments without going into much detail, and expand on it in my body paragraphs. My intro's are generally around half the length of a body paragraph consisting of a contention, few sentences summarising my arguments and a concise statement to end it :D

I'm not sure what TACTIC is but I was taught to structure using TEEL and I think this is a fundamentally valid structure.
