Title: Chemistry - Nitric Acid Question
Post by: DoingItNow on August 25, 2013, 05:01:03 pm
Concentrated nitric acid has a concentration of approximately 15.8M and a purity of 70%. The molecular weight of HNO3 is 63.01g/mol
How much of HNO3 (in grams) would you expect in 10mL of pure HNO3?

You're given the molar concentration, the purity and the molecular mass (not weight!)
Concentration * volume = number of moles
Number of moles * molecular mass = mass
Then multiply by 70% to get how much you actually get.

Thanks. You confirmed what I thought.
