Title: Doing exam essays with frixion erasable pens
Post by: m_chellen on October 09, 2013, 12:29:26 am
So i was just wondering if anyone ever has or would approve of using the frixion erasable pens. They're erasable pens which use friction generated heat with the provided eraser tip to get rid the ink if a mistake is made. The problem with me when i'm doing an English essay, is that i make so many mistakes and it gets so messy that simply looking and rereading my essays gets me annoyed/stressed and really unhappy with my work. I know presentation matters very very little but i lose so much confidence when i am constantly making mistakes with pen hence investing in getting one of these frixion pens. The only risk is that the ink may disappear is extreme temperature conditions (above 60 degrees celcius) which the rubber tip would normally be produced with the friction it provides. My question is should i steer clear of this pen or will it be safe to use for the exam? thanks

If it were me, I'd completely avoid it, just because there's that risk of it fading. I'm pretty sure that the packaging advises people not to use the pen in exams as well.

Decades of English students have written with normal pens, I think it's a great method :)

WARNING: I've heard from various teachers that erasable pens ink does not show up on the page after VCAA scans the essays for online marking (which the English papers are). Therefore if you use erasable pens your responses may not be visible to the examiners.

I can't absolutely confirm this information though, but I have heard it from teachers as I said.

Steer clear of them. I use them for school work, but definitely not for sacs and exams.
