Post by: spectroscopy on October 13, 2013, 12:35:07 am
hey guys, all year ive been a strong psych student, all A+ sacs at a select entry, but now ive been doing practice exams (2) and ive only gotten a c and a c+

i just cant write the answers the way the examiners report wants them and i keep forgetting stuff, how do you guys suggest i start studying to help fix this problem

If it makes you feel any better, I hadn't even started practice exams for Unit 4 by this time (for Psych anyway) and I did fine :P

Honestly, keep going on the practice papers, but if you aren't seeing improvement you need to rigorously locate the areas you are losing marks and revise the fuck out of them however you think is best. I liked venn-diagrams for concepts, mind-maps, use mnemonics for sure to get your content knowledge up (unless that isn't the problem).
The steps are

1: Practice questions
2: Fix what you're shit at
3: Repeat.

Everyone starts off with shitty scores, don't stress, you'll see a big increase soon, I'm sure :)

I gave up on my first I.T practice exam and after a few I scored 72% (self marked). Keep at it

Yeah, Brenden has summed it up pretty well.

Keep doing past exam questions. I think one of the most crucial things in Psych, is to explain the concept, BUT ALWAYS relate your detail to the Case Study provided. Even if you just mention the person's name, it shows the examiner that you know that the person exists. :p
