Title: How to find out if you've failed or passed early.
Post by: nak on July 09, 2009, 05:17:29 am
This 'trick' allows you to check whether you've passed or failed the subjects a couple of days prior to the release of results (I'm not too certain on the exact number of days as I just found this out earlier today).
It doesn't actually give you your mark but it gives you an indication of whether you passed or failed.

1. Login to Portal
2. Click the Admin tab
3. Under 'Managing My Enrolment' click on Add / Drop / Change My Subjects

Now you should be able to see a list of your subjects with credit points allocated to each subject (usually 12.5).
Look at the subjects of the semester concerning you (eg. at the time of this post it's sem 1, 2009), if you see the credit points for those subjects then  ;D because you've passed.
On the other hand, if you see --- allocated to the credit points section then  :'( cos I'm afraid you've failed.

I'm also not sure why they show credit points for second semester also.

I also can't guarantee that this is 100% accurate but once results are published then I can confirm.

Are you sure this is right? My results are said to be released July 10, so would checking now be alright?

I think that's the link (had to go through SIS cos Student Portal was being a jerk and doing that flicky error thing).

If thats the case, then that means...
I PASSED ENGINEERING MATHS!!!! WOOOOO!!! (I was kinda worried about this subject because I screwed up so bad in the exam and was certain that I was going to have to repeat).

THANKS NAK!

it shows the credit points for my sem 2 subjects as well which i havent even done yet =/
cos it goes:
Semester 1:     50.00
   Semester 2:    37.50 (I haven't chose my breadth for sem 2 yet)
   Total Points:    87.50

By the way, does anyone know if we can add/change our sem 2 subjects before our timetables are released?

I doubt this method works. This page only shows the number of points credited for the subjects you have chosen...

Year long subjects are 25 points each, Semester long subjects are 12.5 points each, and non-compulsory subjects (e.g. Science 101) are 0 points.

lol yeh. i asked a few people about this and apparently its fairly accurate. but last year, i did this subject and about a week b4 results were released I checked it and I had no credit points for it. But when I got my results I ended up just passing the subject. (by 2%, needed 50% on the exam cos it was a hurdle) so~ maybe dont rely on that method cos you'll get freaked out for nuthing if u saw u got no credit points but ended up passing it anyway~ lol. so just wait until ur results come out!

wow, so we can change our subjects on the 13th? I didn't even know that. All I know we get our timetables on wednesday of that week. that doesnt really leave enough time for us to change subjects and get them approved right??

Email method is go!
I checked the subject change page thing this morning and I had all 12.5s, and I indeed just passed, so maybe it's legit, haha.

I rummaged through that faq, and the only time I found was 'the week before classes start'. The only solid date I found was for when it closed. Edmund, can I have a link? I cbb finding it on my own.

I can now confirmed that it works. Well, that's from 2 people who've failed subjects with --- indicated in the credit points section yesterday.

Good point... Try Enrolment History, which is like the Results History form, except it sends a table out with credit points too.

If I get a "--" Im gonna be so devastated.

EDIT: I ordered a history of results and hour ago and just received an email. It shows "[12.50]" next to each subject while for the subjects already done in the past, it shows it as "12.50" but without the brackets.
Hmmm
