Wouldn't be bureaucratic for obvious reasons... and probably not a flat structure
So of functional, matrix and divisional which will be the easiest to argue promotes a positive corporate culture?

So of functional, matrix and divisional which will be the easiest to argue promotes a positive corporate culture?
Those three structures are referred to as 'flat' structures. It depends on the context of the question as well. But this question really asks you to consider the intricacies of every style and this seems highly subjective. So in my opinion it would be the divisional structure.

That employment cycle part seems so forced into the question hahaha.
Well I would say it would be the divisional structure, again, that is only my opinion.

I would have said flatter because;
- improved communication between management and staff because there is less of a power hierarchy
- employees involved in decision making (valued and participate)
- workplace flexibility and all that other st00f

Haha yeah!
Well the divisional structure aims to group employees based on specific products. It is my belief that be developing highly specialised teams of employees that are concerned with providing high quality products it promotes the culture! I wouldn't say the matrix structure since it gives rise to the potential of high levels of conflict which negates a positive culture.

Definitely Matrix.
There is a multi-directional communication stream that connect all functions, divisions and departments of the organisation. All though it breaches the unity of command principle, it is much better than a functional or divisional structure where there is limited interaction between the divisions and functions. A matrix structure is much more cohesive and integrated, which is very important when promoting a positive culture.
Just my opinion, hope it gets you thinking!

I reckon it can actually be argued with like almost any structure, couldn't it? I'm seeing some people having different opinions here, like I might actually say the functional structure, since everyone knows what their role is in the organisation and there's less confusion-based conflicts that promote neg corp culture
Or like matrix since then everyone works together and it's more of a connected corporate culture, in comparison to the functional structure where everyone does their own thing and the culture is quite separated, like the Advertising department might have a slight variation of culture from the Marketing department

Maybe when new employees get introduced to the company through induction processes and whatnot, they can see that there's a positive corp culture within the organisation which makes them stay for the comfort and positive environment it provides?
Maybe even with termination you could say resignation might be reduced since similarly people don't want to leave, and even when retrenchment occurs people are less resentful so the org's reputation doesn't get as damaged as it otherwise might have.
(Also contributes to the idea that the business is ethically and socially responsible if you say that the positive corporate culture evokes management to deal with redundancies well, helping redundant employees through the process and even for them to find new employment)

If the questions asks you a decide on a structure would saying a flatter structure be right because I'm not sure if it counts as a structure or just a type of structure

Just saying 'flatter structure' wont get you all the marks.
If a question is asking me to decide on a structure, I would pick a specific 'flat' structure and justify it through logical reasoning.

and the specific 'flat' structures are divisional, functional and matrix? So you can refer to features of a flat structure but mainly refer to the specific structure's features?

I think an appropriate justification would be necessary as any structure seems applicable; very subjective question.
