Title: Best ways to learn Chemistry 1&2
Post by: FarAwaySS2 on January 15, 2014, 11:05:50 pm
I'll be doing Chemistry 1&2 in this year and I was wondering what resources are exceptional because my textbook is really useless. I can't really learn much from it. What's the best way to learn such a complex subject?

Thanks! I would really appreciate any reply!  ;D

I don't know what textbook your school is using but when Iw as in year 11, I used the Heinemann chemistry 2 textbook and jsut did every question from there.
My chem teacher told me that the best way to learn chemistry is to "practice practice practice, you think you have done enough practicing? Then practice some more!". But that is how you better yourself in the numerical area of chemistry. The best way to learn the theory based side of chem in 1/2 (which honestly is not that much, I think only waste and a few theory's are the only theory based topics you will learn), is to read as much info as possible (even the background info) so you can understand everything.
Key things
1. Practice practice practice
2. For theory based topics, get some tips from the bio students :)

The best way to learn anything is to develop an interest in it. There's plenty of info online if your textbook fails you (my textbook remained closed for almost all of year 12).

Crash Course: Chemistry on YouTube is pretty nice. The best resource for info that you don't quite understand is your chemistry teacher. They might even give you some extra notes.

Also, use a revision question book after each topic or before SACs.
