So Who Got Accepted Today?
-
I got into Biomedicine. So happy!
-
Congrats guys :) :) :)
-
Thanks Bullet and congrats Tyson M8
-
Someone post the Clearly-in atars!

Clearly-ins:

Woooooooooooo! I got accepted into Arts at UoM. Fuck yeah!

Woooooooooooo! I got accepted into Science at UoM. Fuck yeah! :D
-
Commerce at Melb Uni.
Over the fucking moon.
My atar was just 0.8 above the clearly in so I was kinda nervous that it might fluctuate.
But fuck yeah! Come on!

I have one question...my offer indicates that the enrollment date is 22/1/14 at copland theatre. But I'm in overseas at that period of time...so what should i do? Would my offer be cancelled if i cannot attend that enrollment section..? :'( :'(

Enrolment is online. I also got this notice but I believed that's the course information session on the Academic Advice Day(Next Wed) for bachelor of commerce which is either 10am or 11am ?
-
Commerce!!! God, I was in the same position as FunkyAfrican. I got 95.50 and was so scared that the clearly-in would increase. I'm so happy right now! ;D ;D ;D
Is there by any chance, anyone else who is going to be doing commerce at UoM? It'll be awesome to get to know a few people before uni starts!
-
You don't need to attend that day. Just make sure you enrol online.
It's just an advice day.
Congrats all (and especially to Kev)

Hi
-
Recommend going to the academic advice day - especially for Commerce students. Melbourne's model means that enrolment into specific majors can be highly confusing (it probably takes a degree to understand how the frigging online
study plan works).
-
I'm away too.. but the first step of the online enrollment process requires a uni melb student number!!
what do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ am I just being stupid?
-
You'll get an email/letter that will guide you in the enrolment process very soon, so don't worry too much. From memory, the Student username is the 1st initial of your given name and your last name - and the password is your DOB.
-
I'm late to the party... but yeah I got in :D ;D
-
My student username also uses my middle initial and I have some friends where it's like the two first letters of their first name + last name...it's not exactly straightforward unfortunately D:
-
There is so much red tape involved!!!
I want my student number now, apparently it comes in on Monday, because without it, we can't enrol!!!!!
-
Dude, everyone is in the same boat. Just enjoy your weekend and celebrate, in a couple of months you'll be longing for the days a student number was your most severe university related stress!

this ^ so much. No need to worry about it too much but I think everyone gets anxious! I couldn't enrol for around a week because my name on birth certificate didn't match VTAC system and TFN name and therefore no student card :o Don't worry if you can't enrol before the academic advice day
-
Do we get the offer/enrolment via email now or on Monday?
-
Monday.
Thanks! So I have just log into vtac again and it says :
[bold]Enrolment date: 22/01/2014
Enrolment time: 13:00-14:00
Location: Carrillo Gantner Theatre, Sidney Myer Asia Centre[/bold]
So do I have to enrol between that time at that location? I thought all are done via the website.
Need to bring passport or any identification stuff for next Wed?
-
Yeah I got the same thing on my VTAC. I don't know what's up with that. But I got an email from the university saying we'll get an email on Monday telling us how to accept and enrol, so I'm assuming we just do it online.
Oh great, we will be there anyway at that time so it is okay. Thanks ;D

Any Mechanical Engineering majors in here for BSc?

Any Mechanical Engineering majors in here for BSc?
ME !! :D But not 100% on mechanical. If chemical/civil interesting enough, I might consider.
-
Mech4lyf
-
would anyone be able to answer this question?
i've posted this twice and asked others with varying answers.
I got 89.95 for my ATAR, and my top 3 preferences were :
1. Melb Uni - Commerce
2. Monash Uni - Commerce
3. RMIT - Professional Accountancy
On Friday I got an offer from RMIT.
My friend and I who both attended the same school(which is underrepresented at Melbourne), both applied for access melbourne with the same circumstance. She got 90.35 and got an offer from Melbourne.
What is the chance I get a second round offer?
-
Bachelor of Science :D contemplating whether to do a concurrent Diploma of Music or Languages or not hmm.

Can't you do them as breath instead?
-
late in, but congratulations to everyone who got in! :)

Yeah me too, but I'll probably go Mechanical. Is it possible to get a taste of all engineering fields in the first year?

Not reeeeally. You can do first year chem, physics, ESD 2 (well that one is compulsory) to get an idea of Chem Eng, Electrical eng (kind of), and mech eng...

Haven't set myself up yet. Still looking at which is more interesting. I will see u then :D can't wait to be called JAFFY ;D

Where can I see the pre-requisite subjects for first yr ( they called it level 1 in the handbook??,Idk).
I have not done physics 3/4 in vce but specialist maths 3/4. So do I require a foundation physics or physics 1 is okay as I'm willing to start studying 3/4 physics now so I won't be really behind.
-
they're pretty lenient about everything first year. even if there's no test, just email the subject coordinator about it and they'll probably let you in. :'D
-
According to the prerequisites, you can only enrol in Physics 1: Fundamentals. However, if you teach yourself a lot of physics before you start, they might let you take a placement test for Physics 1 or Physics 1: Advanced. I'm not too sure if they will, but I know they have a placement test for Accelerated Maths 1, so I don't see why they wouldn't for Physics. I'd ask about it on the advice day.
Is the pre-req stuff in the handbook as I might have overlooked it. Yeah will just ask them. But will I be slightly behind then ? Or I can take physics 1 in semester 2 as breadth ? But the sample plan shows me sem 2 will be physics : physical science and tech.

Hmhh I will start studying just in case they test me. Gosh I'm back to vce :'(
Anyways, i will ask them at academic advice day.
-
Yeah, prereqs are in the handbook.

Thanks!
Omg assignments!! " Contact Hours: 3 x one hour lectures per week; 1 x one hour tutorial per week; 28 hours of practical work (8 x three hour laboratory sessions and up to 30 minutes of pre-laboratory activity) and 10 weekly assignments of 30 minutes each during the semester. " :( :(
Oh I kind of understand now, so if I did Physics: Fundamentals , I can't do Physics 1 or advanced since I can only gain credit for one of those. So what is the difference between physics: fundamentals and physics 1 then?
I still don't get what that really means in the link u gave me with part of the pre-requisite thing:
PHYC10002 Physics 2: Advanced Semester 2 12.50
Thanks for help :D
-
Yeah that is totally confusing that Physics 2 is listed as a prerequisite for Physics 1. It's possible that's an error. The normal course for non-VCE physics first years is
Physics 1: Fundamentals
Physics 2: (whichever stream is more relevant)
As mentioned you may be able to pass some sort of test to be able to take straight Physics 1(not Fundamentals) but ultimately it doesn't accelerate your degree at all.
As for the differences between the subjects... Well, read the handbook outline.
-
Commerce kid here!
I was just wondering if any of you've received the enrolment email yet? Did they say what time on Monday they were sending it and have I missed it?

Haven't received it yet, I'm anticipating something in the afternoon, around 2ish.
