Title: B.Bus and B.Comm
Post by: Ronw2233 on April 13, 2014, 08:57:17 pm
How does the two differ? I know the core units of both covers the same topics basically but I've heard that the accounting core unit teaches different things for commerce students than for business students.

Is there a specific focus of the two bachelors for their core units? If so, does that make the majors they teach differ too?

Core units:
Bachelor of Business:
AFF1000 Principles of accounting and finance
    BTF1010 Commercial law
    ECF1100 Microeconomics
    ETX1100 Business statistics
    MGF1010 Introduction to management
    MKF1120 Marketing theory and practice

Bachelor of Commerce:
AFC1000 Principles of accounting and finance
    BTC1110 Business law
    ECC1000 Principles of microeconomics
    ETC1000 Business and economic statistics
    MGC1010 Introduction to management
    MKC1200 Principles of marketing

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:
I found the focuses on the Monash website
B.Bus "How individual organisations and business operate"
B.Comm "The wider commercial and economic environment organisations operate in"

But once again, does these focuses only affect the core units and not the majors?

What type of firms like to employ what type of graduates in favour to the other, and for what reasons other than the prestige factor that B.Comm sounds better?
