a student has the choice of two amplifiers both with same gain and linear regions, expect one is inverting amplifier and the other non inverting. He is told non inverting amplifier will produce better sound. Evaluate this statement.

What he has been told is false. There is absolutely no difference in sound quality between non-inverting and inverting amplifiers.
Think about it, all the inverting amplifier does is flip the signal - so the point in time where there should have been a rarefaction of air, there is actually a compression. However, everything else is the same! Frequency, tonality, timbre...evverything. Does that make sense?
