Facilities or plants that are arranged in order will achieve the highest levels of efficiency in production. The best layout will optimism operations by increasing productivity rates, customer satisfaction and deadlines being met. It will cause smoothe running because if for example a suitable layout is adopted by operations managers there will be less problems in the production process thus increase productivity rates and in turn a more efficient and effective operating system

Can someone define process/functional layout and batch production in a simple manner? The textbook definition doesn't seem to make much sense to me. An example would be appreciated.

Cheers
