Title: application question? (volumes/rates)
Post by: Yoda on July 22, 2014, 08:51:16 pm
a) A flask in which Houdini who stands 1.8 m tall on a block located on a stage 1m above the floor is modelled by equation 4/7x +3/7. The height of the flask is 3 meters above the stage. Houdini is chained to the block in which water is poured into the flask at a rate of 300L/min. It takes houdini a time of 10minutes to escape from the chains. Find the height of the block in which Houdini stands on.

b) In addition, it is decided that the rate of inflow of water is increased. As the water level in the flask is increasing, Houdini is completely submerged in the water for 1 minute until he escapes the chains whilst the water is simultaneously overflowing in the flask. Find this new rate of inlflow.

Could you please rewrite the question? It doesn't make sense.
