Get her to read some of the classics - not the ancient greek ones, but the greats of the 20th century. Plenty of interesting novels there. I remember reading Brave New World just before year 12 started, which made some of the earliest contributions to my vocab list, along with a couple other novels. Anyway, there are so many great books out there that it really depends on what she likes, as there isn't much point in reading books that will just bore her. I suggest she does some research, and makes a list that she can work through. All the greats can be found at your local library, so it doesn't require a financial investment or anything like that.

Just listen to some Hitchens....intelligence will naturally increase!

I found that the best way to improve my expression was to practice writing!
