Title: Methods Lectures
Post by: m@tty on August 12, 2009, 05:04:34 pm
Lectures soon but I cant  :-\ decide which to go to.
so far my list of providers is:

I am considering going to 4 or 5 of these I was thinking the first five, but that seems excessive.
Which are good, and demand attendance?
and which should be avoided?

feel free to discuss any other lectures too.

Okay then.
Which ONE is best?

Please tell me your joking...4 or 5? Would'nt it just be repitition?

Yes it would be quite repetitive, increasing ease of recall, especially since it will be taught differently at each lecture.
But each will have parts that were not covered in others that will be quite beneficial.
Even with these benefits I think that 5 is excessive as I stated originally, mainly due to time and money.

I am going to derrick ha as he knows his stuff.

TSFX i wouldnt really bother because they just hit on how to do certain hard questions which can be done with a private tutor + a check point book =) . - for maths + science.
i went to the psychology exam revision one which i found very very effective because they assist on tackling down that beast exam. i did no work in psych and just went to tsfx and pulled off a B.
[even though psych is a science its more memory work then calculations] but for maths/science subject wise i find it useless as i went to physics winter school . fell asleep for 20mins or so because it was ridiculously boring. why do i need to know the birthyear of newton and what he did? its a exam on their LAWS NOT THEIR HISTORY T_T, they went through that, fml? - i recommend you to go JACKS in springvale for physics.

AE i went to physics.. they just touch on hard questions/where people go wrong..$35 well spent if you get anything out of it? personally i should just spent that $35 on World Vision.

VCE seminar is one i am attending for business + psychology. pretty cheap for 6.5 hours.. $34

MAV- my teacher recommended it and i will probaly consider it as my teacher rarely recommends crap, wouldn't hurt to try..

TUTEX? link meh

SWOT- i was about to go to swot but i ended up paying $875 for TSFX intensive workshops which cover exam stuff anyways.

TSSM. apparently they are pretty crap compared to TSFX or NEAP judging from here and BoS.

you MIGHT want to consider neap, i have not tried them but MIGHT, my friend went to them and claimed it was awesome for accounting..she got a B for mid years..? Neap publishes books so it might be worth considering

At the end of the day it comes down to you, but i recommend Derrick Ha as my friend did tutoring with him and she achieved 49RAW for mm last year? and also is doing uni maths atm.

goodluck

What other subjects are you doing ENTER 99.95..... do you go to TSSM for all of them?
What school do you go to?

I have been to TSSM for 3 winter school subjects, they were quite good.

It really depends on what you're after though.  NEAP's lecturers are pretty ordinary compared to TSFX (excluding Irena).  But if you're after notes, then NEAP has some pretty good notes; they're concise and don't print in a size 14 font like TSFX.
