I am a first year student in Bachelor of Science. I was planning to do COMP10001 Foundations of Computing for this semester. However when I was enrolling it was full so I moved it to my next semester's study plan.
As I have learnt some programming before, after checking the LMS resources I think I can study this subjects with my free time in this semester. I'm wondering if it is possible that I study all the lectures and finish all the assignments and request to sit the exams of this subject at the end of the semester. If I pass I shall be considered to have finished this subject and earn the credits.
If the plan above is not doable, is there anyone who have done the programming competency test? Because I want to study Database Systems in the future. And the pre-requisite of that subject is either COMP10001 or getting 75% in the programming competency test. If I have studied COMP10001 well, can I pass the test?

Seems like a long-shot that the subject coordinator would allow something like that. Due to university policy they may not allow it unless you have a very good reason.

They will not let you sit the exam unless there are some extremely compelling circumstances. Just study the COMP10001 resources fully and pass the test for Database Systems :)

the programming proficiency test is totally doable if you know basic python and html! It's probably different every time but i sat it as the start of last year and got like 74% because 25% was a question on making a table in html and i'd NEVER seen it before so i had to leave that blank. So i ended up taking the foundations subject anyway. But if you have basic coding knowledge (if statements, loops, functions) and have some html knowledge + generally a bit of knowledge about computers then passing it should be a piece of cake! i recommend giving it a try before the next semester and then getting into the subject you want.
