I have a year 12 friend who wants to become a doctor but has not taken chemistry but does Biology, methods... Given she gets into Bachelor of science, can she apply for the MD later on? are there any subjects that teach chem in first year from the beginning or are they all continuation of the 3/4 vce course

I believe that Fundamentals of Chemistry can be taken without VCE chemistry. To become eligible for the MD at Melbourne, she will also need to take ANAT20006, BCMB20002, and PHYS20008, as well as successfully complete the GAMSAT (assuming she is a domestic student).
Further, Chemistry 1 (the next unit) can be taken in semester 2 and Chemistry 2 can be taken over the summer. That way, she can begin year 2 in-line with most other students.

It's also possible to go straight into chemistry 2 in the second semester with relatively high marks in fundamentals

Of course. Different universities have different requirements, but generally they all require a GPA above 5.0 (Whether as a hurdle requirement or whether the higher the GPA the better depends on each Uni. For Melb, it's the latter) and a GAMSAT score (again with hurdles, generally at least 50/50/50).
Most universities don't require scientific subject requirements, but some like UniMelb do.
