Title: Physics or Biology?
Post by: SXR19 on July 22, 2015, 11:02:53 am
Hey guys,

I'm leaning on my chosen career as a marine biologist/marine engineer.
I really enjoy both Biology and Physics and I want to know which one is better/relevant.

Thanks!

PS I'm in yr11

Both are quite relevant. Biology will probably be important either way, and physics if you opt for marine engineering. I'm guessing either science will satisfy the prerequisites? Would doing both be an option? If not, I would go with whichever subject you enjoy most.

Curiously enough, these are both very different fields, so I'm wondering if you're aware of what both entail?

If you're really not sure, I'd say physics - simply because you can catch up on biology much more quickly at university than you can do so for physics. A lot of people will say "but VCE physics sucks and you won't do well so you should do bio instead", but I can promise you that physics is an uphill battle the whole way through, so if you can do it now...

Which one has less work load/easier to grasp?

Depends entirely on the person and what they're good at/comfortable with. Are you better at manipulating formula? Do you prefer to learn about how the genome might form?

Undoubtedly VCE Physics is a terrible subject, you should go with Biology :)

(but if you're concerned about workload, Bio is definitely the tougher one by a long way)
