Title: Practice Exam question- Driving forces for change (Suggested answer wrong?)
Post by: Boobah on September 28, 2015, 03:01:48 pm
Hi all, this question came up in one of my practice exams and I thought the suggested answer was wrong as I believe the answer is actually talking about sources for change.

if so what would be good driving forces to use here?
The question

Login Australia is a leading information technology services organisation employing over 1200 consulting staff nationwide. It recently went through significant change acquiring Linx IT Services based in Melbourne. Since the takeover senior management have noticed that staff morale has dropped as both companies merged into one. More staff are looking for jobs elsewhere and the human resource manager is under pressure to address these staffing issues.
a. Outline two driving forces for change that would affect Login Australia. 2 marks

The suggested answer:

a driving force for change could be customers as they have changing tastes, expectations and preferences. Login Australia needs to be responsive to these changes and ensure that the information technology services they offer meet customer demand to sustain loyalty to the company, which will lead to increased market share and profits.
Another driving force is new technology. Login Australia is in IT services and would need to keep up-to-date with all new technology that is available for consultants to offer to customers. Consultants would need to be trained to use the new technology and then be able to adapt it to meet the needs of their customers, to keep them loyal to the organisation.
Students can refer to other driving forces from the internal or external environment to answer this question.
1 mark is allocated for an outline of each driving force. (x2)
