Hahahaha, I actually think some of these little excerpts from essays are pretty poor quality actually, especially the L.A. ones  :-\

But I'll be posting something soon that should help decipher some of the vaguer parts of this!

(Hint... or not so much a hint as last year's version...)

Dickens, I think you have become worse at maths ever since you changed your name...

That'd be the best bell curve ever - all 0s and 10s with nothing in the middle :P

My favourite part was when they called that a metaphor when it's actually a simile. 4/10 technique identification, VCAA - try harder.

Still, nothing can beat the quality of similes in some creative pieces:
"She floated gracefully across the water, just like a bowling ball wouldn't."  ;D

Yeah, but it's a RANKING system. :P So, all those 0s and 10s would turn into 0s and 40s. ;D (soz for the 0s...)

But by reading this what am I meant to learn?
Considering its the start of the year is this a helpful resource?
What should i hope to gather from this? (did you guys use it at start of year?)

aha yeah I saw that just after I posted and was going to edit my post.
You're an amazing person Lauren for taking out time to do this for us :) I really hope you understand how selfless you are :)
