So I think I want to pick up Chemistry next term. All I'm afraid of is that I won't be able to pick it up well next semester. Is there anyone who's taking it or who picked it up later who can help out? Will exams be harder? Or will I need unit 1 knowledge to understand other units? What can I do to learn what I need from unit 1? Thanks

Hi, I'm doing Unit 1 Chemistry right now and honestly, don't think that it's too late to pick it up. From reading the study design, you shouldn't struggle with any of the other units without doing the first. However, I do suggest that you have basic knowledge on the subject, such as atomic structure, arrangement of the periodic table, element properties, bonding models, mole calculations, etc. Have you done Year 10 Chem? I found that the content learnt in Term 1 was similar to Year 10 Chem, so it was more like revision for me.
If you like, you could ask friends for their Unit 1 notes, skim over the content or ask the teacher for any appropriate extra work.
