Title: Doing 5 Subjects in Year 11?
Post by: FGKYpls on May 26, 2016, 05:19:49 pm
Right now I'm doing VC because there was no other option, but it's boring and useless. (NOT doing it next year)

Has anyone every dropped a subject in Year 11? Is it possible?

It will depend on your school. I went to two different schools in Year 11 for each semester and the first one wouldn't allow it unless you had some sort of special consideration/program devised. The other school didn't mind and it was actually a pretty common occurrence. I only did 5 subjects in Year 11 in the second semester because there were no places in the subjects I wanted and the rest were boring :P

Talk to your school and see what they say.

As Units 1 and 2 are school-based (they must only report S/N to the VCAA), your school policy will determine whether you can or can't (as Coffee has stated). You also should be aware of potential repercussions regarding dropping a subject (e.g. requirements to pass the VCE).

Make sure in the end you have at least 6 subjects at Units 3 and 4 level (for which you will get a study score for), as if you only have 5, you'll miss out on that final 10% aggregate increment too.
