Hi people,
I am aiming for a study score in methods of 48-50 (but really gunning for the 50). I am rank 1 in a pretty strong top 5 group of students...
However, I am worried that the maths/science section of my GAT (which will be below below below below below average due to my decision to spend heaps of time on the writing sections, as English is my weakness) will not let me obtain a high score such as this...
I know people say "THE GAT DOESN'T MATTER", but could someone confirm this? Maybe the GAT does matter? I feel like this thread could be a great way to clarify the mystery that is the GAT not just for me, but for everyone...
Thank you very much :)

If you're not sick/can't sit the exam, then it shouldn't matter!

Appreciate your help Orb, but are you sure it wouldn't matter? Kinda doesn't sound right...
Or maybe it is just my brain looking for an answer that is not there...

The GAT also helps the VCAA determine how hard your SACs are in relation to the all the other schools in the state. If everyone in your school has a high SAC average but collectively do below average on the GAT then your entire cohorts grades will change a bit to match the 'state-standard'.
Like Orb said though, it won't matter to you at all as long as you're well for the exams and don't need a dervied score. :)
