Only my second post, so I'm not really sure what/why I am doing with this. I'm going into Specialist 1,2 next year and I'm really not sure what I'm letting myself in for. Bcoz I'm in a small school I'll be in a class with only two other students so it will be distance ed. What kind of stuff should I be focusing on in particular? Is there anyone out there who has done Spesh by distance before?
Pls help, anyone with sensible advice :P
Moderator edit: Split and moved from Vic Education to Specialist board.

Hey Marvin, i am in the same boat as you, next year i will be doing specialist and methods by distance and will be alone as no one else is doing these subjects, i had a mate do it last year and he didn't seem to mind it too much, this is because he made sure his math fundamental skills were well refined during the summer holidays, which is what i am doing currently and strongly advise. I have gone through most of the Khan Academy 'Algebra' section and this has greatly helped me with my understanding going into these subjects. I suggest you brush up and perfect areas that have been particularly troubling. But not before you relax, take a break and have a great Christmas.

Hey not too sure about specialist maths because I didn't do it myself, but with mathematical methods I self taught the course, and I know many people who self-taught both methods and specialist mathematics.
It should be very doable! Maths isn't a subject where you ever need to depend on your teacher. Sure, it's handy to have someone there to answer your questions, but it's not critical that a teacher is always there for you. If you ever get stuck on a concept - you can go on Khan academy or read through the textbook explanation a few times or ask for an explanation here on Atarnotes!
And if you can't solve a question, you can always ask here! The response times are extremely quick and very well thought out, so I'd highly recommend asking for help here :)
Should be doable all in all! :)
