I have been trying to prepare my uni timetable (very nerdy this early I know,), for bachelor of commerce at UniMelb majoring in actuary (I got all prereq scores and 95+ atar, so I'm sure I should be offered a place) and in the accelerated maths handbook it says there are 4 lectures/week. https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/current/MAST10008
I was just wondering if anyone who has done this subject recently knows if all 4 lectures are vital or in any way necessary to doing well, as I worked very hard to get the 38+ in spec, and really want to do well (hopefullly 80+/H1). However, it does seem like quite a lot compared to other subjects, and it's very restrictive as there's only one time for each for the 4 lectures (this is probably silly, but I was really looking forward to doing a free group fitness class every 1:10 Friday :( ), but obviously uni study is the priority. Thanks for the help

AM1 should be ok if you are skipping lectures, everything is recorded
In AM2, lecture attendance is a bit more important because the blackboard isn't recorded

Never went to the AM1 lectures since they were recorded and finished with a 77 if it is the same lecturer as i had in first year you will be fine :)

If you're not prepared to go to all 4 lectures, don't do the subject.
Do linear algebra or calc 2 instead.

They both have 3 lectures/week, and I'm hoping to only have to attend 2 uni days/week as I need a job (At this point I'm forgetting about the group fitness class, and have it planned out for Tuesday and Thursday). Is there any reason why I can't watch the AM lectures online, as this is the preferred subject for the actuary pathway?

For some Maths subjects they only capture half of the whiteboard, so you're only watching 'half' of the lecture. If you're incredibly talented (say hypothetically got 45+ raw in Spesh and didn't do too much work) then you can probably get through AM1 & 2 by just watching them at home :)
