Title: Re: Need help choosing experiment for report

This is actually so cool! I wish I could do this in year 12. :O

The standard experiment that's usually done here is to get some food from the store, and then use calorimetry to figure out how much sugar/carbs are in it and then compare to their chains. However, we can certainly get more creative! I noticed that you can also do it on food? How about:

-Comparing the amount of energy in different battery types (compare AA to AAA, also checking different brands), see if you can use some cool maths based on their claims of power, voltage, etc. to figure out the running length of particular types. (My knowledge of electrochem is shaky at best, but I think there are equations for the latter?)

- Find the pH of different sour lollies, see if there's a correlation between people's enjoyment and acidity.

-Detection of iron levels in different foods, compare to manufacturer claim (may be beyond your school's capabilities chemical/instrument-wise)

If I think of anymore, I'll post them here. But yeah, try to think of one yourself - this is what science is actually about, and personally why I think it's so cool!
