Title: What makes a word, a word?
Post by: PhoenixxFire on October 25, 2017, 03:52:16 pm
Does it need to be in a dictionary? Or does it just need a meaning? I tend to take both sides on this depending on if I'm the one making up words or someone else is. What are your thoughts?

Interesting question. What inspired this? I'm having trouble conceptualising the debate, but I feel like I will have an opinion on it...

My brain works weirdly when I'm up too late at night. I was thinking about people (me mostly) who say that words that people make up like betterer aren't words. So then I was wondering what a word was? Is it just a random sequence of letters that have meaning? That would mean that betterer is a word. I figured AN would have the answer so here we are ;D
