Title: What makes a person mature?
Post by: Calebark on October 28, 2017, 12:13:08 am
Is it how they act? What they think? What they do?

Do you consider yourself mature, and why/why not?

:)

Their past experiences that influence their present and future behaviour (in a positive way).

I genuinely believe we all learn from our mistakes and experiences.

I consider myself to be much more mature than expected for my age, due to my experiences (quite personal). They have definitely shaped who I am and how I act.

I think that people are mature when they can admit they were wrong haha!

Maturity comes from experience, life experience. When you experience things, you learn from it (to not do it again). I did some stupid stuff back then (which I won't detail here HAHA).

Maturity also comes from responsibility and the ability to think things through. If you are an adult you recognise mistakes and take time to reflect and fix those mistakes.

I would say that I'm getting there, but I'm definitely more wiser and mature than I was a few years ago .

Lastly a big part of maturity is to know that... There's a time and place for everything.

recognising that there's always someone who will be 'better' or more successful than you in any given area, accepting it and realising that you're not any less for it

avoiding conflict when you have an issue with someone or don't like them because you realise it isn't worth it

acknowledging you can learn something from everyone no matter who they are or where they're from

I get told I'm mature a lot but I'm not sure if that's actually true or because of my lack of desire to do stupid things (I think everyone should actually get in trouble a bit to learn from it)

I consider maturity to be a combination of elements of wisdom and responsibility, which contribute to one's ability and will to act and respond in socially appropriate ways that promote interpersonal harmony.

I read a quote about his once and I really liked it so I still remember it:

'The true mark of maturity is when someone hurts you and you try to understand their situation instead of hurting them back'

pretty deep I reckon- Full credit to the creator of the quote.
