Title: Applying to the Melbourne University
Post by: nwst on January 15, 2018, 10:38:59 pm
Hi everyone,
I am a foreigner. I am thinking to apply graduate research degrees at the Melbourne university.
I have not English language certificate. I know that there are English language programs.

Anyone have experience about that? I wonder these;
Will I be a student of the Melbourne university when I am at English language program?
How long English language program will take time?
Are there financial support to students at English language program?

Thank you in advance.

Hi!

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on this, given that I do not attend UoM. The following information was found online.

Minimum requirements for international students are detailed here. If you have achieved the first 2 requirements, you must fulfil the English requirement.

As you wish to apply for a research degree, you aren't eligible for the "UoM English Language Bridging Program". The following quote is taken from here:
Quote
The UMELBP is a direct English language pathway from Hawthorn-Melbourne to some courses at the University of Melbourne. It is not available for all courses, and it is not available for research students.

In order to satisfy the English language requirement, you must take either IELTS/TOEFL/Pearson Test of English/Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE). Depending on your degree, the minimum scores which will guarantee you entry into your desired course are listed here.

Hope this helps!
