Title: Displacement and Velocity
Post by: mandy on October 13, 2009, 06:18:09 pm
The position of a body between the times t=0 and t=10 is given by the equation x = t2-6t+5, where t is the time in seconds and x is the position in metres.
a. Sketch the position-time graph for 0<t<10.
Done
b. Calculate the average velocity between 2s and 4s.
0m/s
c. Calculate the average velocity between 1s and 5s.
0m/s
d. Calculate the average speed between 2s and 4s.
I tried finding the turning pt. of the graph and using that to find the distance travelled, but that was wrong.
How do I do this question?

Okay, so here was my way of doing this..
I tried to find the turning point of x=t2-6t+5, and I got the turning point of (3,-4).
I then added this to the distance of 5. ---> 5+4+4=13
Then, I divided the 13 by 2, which is the change in time, i hope.
I got an answer of 6.5m/s, while the correct answer is meant to be 1m/s :S
Help please ?
