Title: struggling with theory/writing heavy subjects
Post by: VeryJuicyLemon on May 28, 2018, 01:18:08 am
doing mediocre on bus man, aus his and english wheras averaging A+ in VCD and 100% in Further Maths. From this, you may be able to pinpoint that I'm not really an english/writing person.

But I dedicated a lot of time in these 3 subjects (it's really demoralising) but just can't push past the B grade. It seems to me I'm lacking in the application of knowledge into my writing. Is there anyway I can quickly resolve this?

Study tips is encouraged also

Can't really help for english and busman, but for history (I don't think the criteria's too different to ancient history) try memorising a lot of details, dates, names, historian quotes etc. For past years' examination reports something that comes up quite repetitively is lack of reference to specific details like dates.

Try writing a bunch of practice essays too, sounds boring I know, but it really helps. Even if it's just one paragraph, get a teacher to look over it and it really helps.

Also for essays, my teacher likes to tell us to think like a '5 year old child'. After making every statement think 'why?' and expand on it so that you can touch on a deeper issues in your essays.

Hope I helped!
