Hi all,
Just wondering, I've heard many people at school saying that subjects that have a new study design scale down a lot than they would actually do if it were previous years.
Is this true?
Is the logic behind it that because it's the new study design, examiners tend to mark a bit more leniently, hence the scaling down?
I was a bit worried, because I do Legal Studies (new study design this year) and Legal already scales down by 1-2.
So would it drop by lower this year?
I know Legal stays the same 45+ study score, but would every study score go down by a lot than usual this year?
If anyone has ideas about this - for legal or just general subjects that have new study designs, I would love to hear your thoughts / past experiences.
Thanks a lot guys! :)

No, this is not true.
The degree of scaling is based on how the students who choose that subject go on their other subjects. A new study design is very unlikely to make a significant difference to that.
