Title: Best notes books?
Post by: ddin on July 09, 2018, 02:23:16 pm
I was looking at the Insight Comparison books and was wondering what people thought about them. (The one I was looking to get: https://www.insightpublications.com.au/shopexd.asp?id=3084)
Also, are there any other better alternatives?
Thanks.

Hello :)

Throughout year 12, I also used the Insight Comparison book for Tracks and Into the Wild. I think it's only helpful up to a certain point. While it breaks down basic character traits and provides some analysis of each scene, I'd encourage you to use this only to stimulate your own interpretation. Perhaps even better alternatives to study guides would be relevant critical essays or director interviews. Also, starting up a discussion thread on AN, where you can pick apart the text with your peers is a great idea. Take a look here .

All the best!
