Title: School Reference and Awards
Post by: envisagator on July 24, 2018, 10:23:59 pm
How vital is the school reference you get towards applying for a job, does it give you any benefit towards any university scholarships??
Is winning top boy/girl really important, or is it just dux that really matters??

Most jobs you apply for probably only look at your CV/resume and maybe your cover letter. Some employers may ask for references (but usually they would require the phone number to actually contact the referee in person, rather than just look at a reference letter).

For many scholarships, universities will ask you to upload supporting documents (e.g. awards) alongside your application. This is where you could upload your school reference as a supporting document. For scholarships, it is usually more important to be able to talk about extra-curricular activities, leadership, sports, etc that you participated in. If your reference letter details some of your commitments, then it could be useful.
