Title: English exam revision help!
Post by: lifeisgood on September 30, 2018, 06:10:00 pm
i need so much with English. yes I can average around mid  80s in every sac. but the exams is my biggest concern. the last trial exam I didn't finish and ended up with a 60. I know this will definitely bring my study score so low. what can I do.  just to give you a bit of background. my school is doing I for Isobel and I am Malala. any suggestions. I get that I would need to do many prac essays. but I what is the point if I dont even know what to include in the actual essays. im totally freaking out now since trial exams for my school starts tomorrow.

hi, lifeisgood.
First things first, panicking about it won’t do you any favours. Just breathe and make a checklist in your mind of everything to go through. Write it down. What can you do well? What is fastest for you? What specific difficulties are you having? List your positives as well as your negatives, and look at what you’ve got. My school is doing I for Isobel for the text response essay, then I am Malala and Made in Dagenham for the comparative essay; so I can tell you right now, it’s not so hard. Consistent 80s mean that you’re a confident and eloquent writer, and you know your texts well. When in the room, you’re given a choice of prompts that are typically quite simple, and can be used easily. Focus on the facts before you and just write. Don’t worry about your grades, and don’t worry about embarrassing yourself or somehow not being enough. The reason schools run trial exams is to give you the practice you need to fully understand the time frame involved, and the amount of work you can do in it. And whatever happens happens. Don’t dwell on the past. Do what you can in the moment. I can’t give you much specific advice except for this. Why don’t you read/reread some of the English forum articles, like literally lauren’s Comparative thread? This might put your mind at ease a little bit more. Get a good sleep and it’ll be over in no time. Believe you can do it, and you will. If not this time, then the next. Or the next. But eventually, your practice will pay off. Good luck. :)
