I know there's a few of us lurking around here, so here's a thread to discuss some of the happenings surrounding the conclusion of our penultimate year of secondary school.
I'll get it started. Has anyone finished school yet? Ready for exams? Counting down the days until 3/4s are over?
-
i have another 2 weeks of school :'(
and then exams for two weeks! woo.......
-
I've finished school :P 2 1/2 exams left... *curses French*
-
I haven't started revising/studying for year 11 exams yet. I've still got a few weeks of classes and exams start around the 23rd. We're so behind, we haven't even started waves in Physics yet. :/
But woah, I can't believe you've finished school already. My last day is around the 28th.
-
im hating my school right now -__-
at least my 1/2 exams are after my 3/4 :)
mmm haven't started studying for my yr 11 subs
-
I've got school until late November - then it's year 11 exams until December 3rd. Won't study for them for ages though, although I'll probs put quite a bit of work into the English and Literature ones, since they're structured the same way as the 3/4 ones.
-
I didn't study for my 1/2 subjects - most of my subjects are conceptual, so there's not a need to revise copious amounts of content.
We have to go back to school for speech night rehearsals and VCE orientation though.
-
oh wow you've finished school really early. we still have 3 weeks of course work, then a day off, then our first yr11 exam starts. they are piling us with work to prepare for exams and finish everything in time, it's so stressful cos my 3/4 is next week. >< but once that offer it's all going to be ok:D

Seeing you Year 11's on this forum depresses me, I wish I found this place when I was in your position. I had no motivation in the first semester of Year 12, only after an epiphany after going to a Uni Open Day I decided to start giving 100% of myself to my studies. I urge all of you - and I know you've heard this heaps of times, but it can't hurt once more - to take next year seriously. I personally think the following sentence will set you up for success; "Exam revision starts on the first day of Term 1". Think about it, and take it to heart.
All the best for your studies.

My school is mean. We have a load of tests before our unit 3/4s. how r we supposed to make time for these when we are constantly bombarded with assignments and work?
Though most of our exams are around 20 Nov and we have to still come to school until we finish these.
-
2.5 weeks left until exams...then 1 week of year 12 orientation without books...THATS gonna be fun and won't deter me from studying new subjects earlier...
-
Next week is my last week before exams. But theres like only 3 days of school next week cos we get monday off as well, but i've got my bio 3/4 on that day. I haven't studied for my 1/2s at all.
-
Next week is my last too. Last day is Thursday, but i have my 3/4 accounting exam that day.
Then next week after 1/2 exams start.
Havent started studying for 1/2s, prob start after 3/4 exam. So crap cause we had so many sacs this week, making it hard to study for our 3/4s.
-
ahahah Im so glad this year is coming to an end. I kind of feel sorry for you guys, but anyway, goodluck. Also, as Kendra said, exam revision starts on the first day of term 1.

Year 12 is the year where most of you will first learn to study. And lots of you might end up doing it in a sub-optimal way.
Most important thing to consider is that everyone learns differently and there's no need to spend too much time reading advice about the perfect study technique. Best practices for organisation require a system that doesn't fail when you're not feeling 100% committed. This means when it's a rainy day on a weekend (and your inner productivty geek is showing) and you think you can set up the best study timetable ever, ask yourself: will I stick to this on a sunny Friday afternoon?
Be prepared to learn how to collaborate and share. Being overcompetitive is silly, because at most you're just hurting your cohort, and then the rest of the state who does collaborate will just do better. In that sense, be prepared to use tools like VCENotes, Merspi, and Bored of Studies, or any other online platform, as it's the best way to reach other VCE kids!
I've noticed that some schools are banning VCENotes -- if you are the budding salesman, you should say something along these lines to your teachers: "look I think [this website] is a great resource and should even be implemented into the year 12 induction program". Deer Park (and others in the future) are doing it with Merspi -- it's a great case for schools that don't have the resources to have absolutely comprehensive help and support. Try to get your school on board, because the more people are sharing, the more we all learn together.

Well aren't you people making me look forward to year 12. D:
I've still got another 2 weeks of classes, 2 weeks of exams, an orientation week and THEN I can finally semi enjoy myself on the holidays.

Physics is fun :P Don't worry if you're taking it... if the concepts click, it'll be a walk in the park.

Two more weeks of classes left then the exams begin, It sucks how I've got year 11 sacs right before my Apps exam -.-

Yeah, that's true. It's a bit annoying that they didn't reward real physics, but hey, VCE's a bit of a joke in general in that regard. Everything seems to be so formulaic - creativity's stifled.

To bad teachers are known to flog year 12's with homework during that week...
Wahahahah I hope I still can do everything I planned...
