Hi,
I'm planning to put little 'post-it' note style tabs on my bound reference. They are stuck on and won't fall off but is there any reason why I would not be allowed to have them there? Just checking to be sure.
Cheers.

I'm pretty sure tabs aren't allowed.
-
I remember in Derrick Ha's lecture he showed us an image of his reference book and it had tabs on the side. It looked like tabbed paper though and he seemed pretty anal about going by the VCAA specifications so I dunno. Guess it's too late to say write on tabbed paper lol
-
Thanks for that. I removed the tabs as I would rather not risk it.
I hope the rest of my notes are compliant with their "standards"
-
Talking about Ha being anal about bound references. The one he gave out for methods, it was <1 cm wider in width than A4 size. And he recommended chopping it to get back to A4 hahaahha.
He didn't make a big deal about it but I just loved the image of a supervisor coming around with a ruler and measuring peoples notes.

Thanks for all your help on this. As far as I can tell everything is ok with their specifications except I am unsure about the "design their own written index" part as I have compiled my index in Microsoft Word and stapled it to my first page to make it easier to read.
I can't see why that would be against the rules, but I'd better check just to be sure.

what i did was i cut in the sides of my pages like of the actual book so i just flip to them like in an address book you know the A,B,C thing...but with my topics..
-
I had post it tabs on mine and I was sitting next to the supervisor. He didn't say anything :P
EDIT: For specialist exam
-
You can put tabs on, if you like - but stick them ON with sticky tape also - and staple them in.
Should keep your away from assessors. :)
-
I stapled a practice exam together, and glued it into my notes books (like, the back page of the exam onto a page in my book), then taped it along the spine to make sure it was secure. I am still not sure whether this is considered a 'fold out' or not, though...
Since we are allowed to "firmly attach (e.g. by glue, adhesive tape or staples) additional material to pages in the bound reference*"
What do you reckon, would it be allowed?
-
If it folds out of your book e.g. you fold out the page from the staple, then it isn't allowed.
-
Damn =(
-
I have my set of notes which are all stapled down the left side. That's alright isn't it?
-
As long as when you open the book, you are not able to get any of the pages in the reference book and pull them out, or fold them out so they stretch out beyond the size of the book - you are fine. Otherwise, you're in trouble. That's the best I can explain it.
It - cannot - fold out of your book. Ie - you stick it in folded, so you can unfold it during the exam. This is not okay.
-
I'm pretty sure I'm fine, it folds out like a normal book would.
Cheers.

Mine is like 2 A4 Books stuck together tightly with DUCT tape.. is that OK do you think?
