Title: Sound related questions
Post by: krzysiek on November 10, 2009, 07:23:42 pm
Hey,

I remember back a few weeks ago when I used to be doing a fair few prac exams for physics I came across some hard questions for sound - but have now forgotten them.

Can anyone post their formulas they use for sound, but not the obvious simple ones, such as dB = 10log10 ( Intensity / 10^-12)

I think one, for example, to find out the dB increase for example of a sound of 20 times greater intensity of another sound, you would do 10log10 (20/1) and this would give you, for example, how much louder in dB this sound with 20 times higher intensity was. That is just for example, if anyone could bring some of the other (not so known) and more difficult formulas back to my attention.

Thanks,
