Title: Link with Physics
Post by: brightsky on December 28, 2009, 09:02:49 pm
How closely related is Physics and Specialist Maths? Is it really essential to study Physics if considering to do Spesh?

Its not essential but it is an advantage.

Structures and materials (tension, etc) is all repeated again in spesh, and projectile motion.

What's the actual advantage? Is it merely the fact that you are exposed to the related studies more often, or...?

What crappy said. The physics component of Spesh is covered in GMA - Dynamics and Kinematics.

I say it's an advantage doing physics because you'll know the basics of kinematics and dynamics. However I found once we moved into calculus physics, the people in our class who did physics didn't do so well. In fact on our kinematics/dynamics sac, the top 3 marks were people who didn't do physics.

Now it's not to say it's essential to do physics to do well in specialist. I didn't do physics but I still managed to obtain a perfect score in Specialist. In the top 4 scores at our school, only 1 of them actually did physics. It doesn't mean there's a small amount of physics in spesh. There's actually quite a lot on it, but it's simple to understand it, especially when calculus is involved

Yeah its only a small part of Spesh, it helps a bit, but they teach it in gma, and i managed to do better than my friend who does physics.
