Title: guarenteed is not guaranteed?
Post by: harmony on January 25, 2010, 09:52:27 pm
quote from website: guaranted fee places would be limited by the NO. of fee places available n the course n the yr of entry.

?!

they say 99+ will guarantee a JD/MD provided 75% average (*OMG i see a pancake dropping from the sky), so how to explain the quote above?! imagine: 3 years later 200 people met the prereq and all wanna get into MD for guaranteed entry and only 100 spots availabe. what next? the selection ppl compare ENTER? (WTF) or, they higher the 75% minimum?

* i called five different staffs n i got 5 different answers. one said must sit GAMSAT nomatter what, one said it will be guaranteed(not answering my question), one said they will raise their GPA minimum and one said it depends on their ENTER, and the last one said that my worries are not necessary because that will not happen.

....

i am picturing in my mind the situation of a person turning over a poker table ruining people's half-played game telling them to leave the room and line-up then come back for the sake of starting new-rules. note: that person being the person who decides that everyone should dream large.

haiz melb why so...

first ... getting 99 above is a restricted number.... top 1% of all the vce students ... so saying 100 kids ... that means around 100,000 students did vce....
also i think getting 99 above ..meaning a guaranteed place with full payment for the course

Not quite :/
There are ~500 99+ scores.
50,000/100 = 500

lol.. it was in his case ...
and but those 500 people won't all choose med
and they have to pay full fee for the course

Ok, I have asked this personally from Andrew Devine and John Paul Collins who both work for student admissions.

99+ means
you have to pay $7500 each year of ur bachelor degree (does not have to be upfront)
as mentioned 75% average
undertake a 'mini' interview
NO GAMSAT!

If demand is high, GPA and GAMSAT cutoff will rise.
